Peter McDonald - Drapac Porsche

After 800kms of racing, the current Australian Road Champion, Peter McDonald of the Australian based Drapac Porshe Continental Team, lost the overall lead of the Tour of Taiwan on the final stage of the seven stage race on countback.  112 riders from Asia, Europe and Australia contested the Tour of Taiwan which has been a major race on the Asia circuit since 2003.

Fresh on the back of winning the Tour of Wellington, Peter McDonald was in excellent form coming into the Tour of Taiwan and, together with his Team, took the yellow jersey after the 4th Stage and held it until the final stage in Taipei City.

Polish powerhouse sprinter Jezowski Krzysztof of the Merida Europe Team maintained his consistent performance to take second place on the final criterium stage which, thanks to time bonuses, was enough to complete the same time as Peter McDonald on overall GC and take the win on countback (he had a higher number of places in the stages).

Drapac Porsche was the only Australian team to compete in the race.  Drapac Porche were represented by Peter McDonald, Stuart Shaw, Rhys Pollock, Dean Windsor and Daniel Braunsteins.

Drapac Porsche is a unique Cycling Development Team which maintains a philosophy which believes that during an athlete’s career they must develop and sustain their concept of self worth and success, as a unique individual, in various aspects of their lives other than their primary sport.
