McEwen wins Tour of Majorca stage two

Robbie McEwen Tour of Majorca stage 2
Veteran Aussie sprinter Robbie McEwen (Katusha) has won the second stage of the Tour of Majorca, from Cala Millor to Cala Bona.

McEwen edged ahead of fellow Aussie Graeme Brown (Rabobank) to take the sprint. McEwen would obviously have been very happy with the result after the final sprint in Adelaide where it seemd Graeme Brown edged him out. Guillaume Blot (Cofidis) was third. McEwen now takes the overall race lead

Coupled with yesterday's win by Gert Steegmans, the Russian Katusha team has now clocked two out of two on the Balearic isle.

McEwen's win is his second of the year, having opened his account in the Cancer Council Classic in Australia in January.

Tomorrow's third stage starts in Pollensa and finishes in Puerto de Alcudia after 182.6km of racing. The stage features three climbs, so may not be one for the pure sprinters.
